COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Forecasters have confirmed that four tornadoes touched down in the South Carolina Midlands on Friday.

The National Weather Service on Saturday announced that survey teams had assessed the damage from the storm. Two tornadoes occurred in Newberry County and two were in Orangeburg Counts.

National Weather Service Meteorologist John Quagliariello tells WIS-TV that the tornadoes caused trees to be snapped or uprooted. He says several trees landed on homes.
