House Speaker Nancy Pelosi brushed off President Trump’s threat to close the U.S.-Mexican border as unrealistic.

“Let’s regard shutting down the border as a notion, that can’t possibly rise to the level of an idea,” she said Tuesday in an interview with Politico Playbook. “It’s an applause line, not an idea.”

The president suggested on Friday that he might shut down at least large sections of the border if the Mexican government fails to crack down on illegal immigration on their end.

“If Mexico doesn’t immediately stop ALL illegal immigration coming into the United States throug [sic] our Southern Border, I will be CLOSING the Border, or large sections of the Border, next week,” he tweeted.
