JACKSON, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a masonry manufacturing company worker has died after a piece of equipment he was taking apart collapsed and crushed him.

Jackson police say 58-year-old township resident Kenneth Mann called 911 around 7 a.m. Thursday and said he was pinned to the ground by the equipment at Ralph Clayton and Sons. Officers responded while 911 dispatchers tried to keep Mann talking before they lost contact with him.

Emergency responders searched the business site and eventually found an unresponsive Mann near the tree-lined edge of the large property. He was taken to a hospital but died there a short time later.

Authorities say Mann was trying to take apart a piece of equipment so it could moved elsewhere, but it somehow fell over and pinned him to the ground.
