Rep. Chris Stewart warned Friday that anyone pressing for further action on special counsel Robert Mueller’s report is handing President Trump a win.

“I think for those who are pursuing this, I think the American people are exhausted by this,” the Utah Republican said on CNN’s “Newsroom.” “I think they are handing the president the greatest gift they could give him in the 2020 election. I think most Americans realize this is unfair to keep going and going and going.

“There’s members of Congress who should see all of this with exception … of the grand jury information,” Mr. Stewart said, adding while the report showed Mr. Trump’s administration in an unflattering light, “there’s a difference between some things that are embarrassing and concerning and some things that are illegal.”

The Justice Department released a redacted version of Mr. Mueller’s report Thursday, with the special counsel concluding Mr. Trump’s team did not collude with Russia to win the 2016 election but that the president’s attempts to obstruct the investigation could be seen as problematic.
