EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. (AP) - The 17-year-old granddaughter of a man found fatally beaten and stabbed in his Pennsylvania home this week has been charged in his death along with her boyfriend and two other people.
Authorities say 71-year-old Joseph Monka was killed Monday. But the Edwardsville man’s body wasn’t found until Wednesday, when concerned relatives started looking for him.
Monka was beaten with a golf club and stabbed in the neck. Authorities say the four suspects conspired to attack him and then made off with $30,000 in cash from his basement safe and stole his car.
Monka’s granddaughter, her 19-year-old boyfriend and her 16-year-old friend were arrested early Thursday at a hotel near Wilkes-Barre. The fourth suspect remains at large.
All four face several charges, including criminal homicide, conspiracy and tampering with evidence.
