MARSHALL, Wis. (AP) - Authorities say the death of a Cottage Grove man investigated as a homicide is now considered accidental.

The body of 47-yer-old Kurt Meyer was found in a cornfield in Marshall last January. He had been reported missing five days earlier.

WISC-TV reports Marshall Police Chief John Nault says the investigation into Meyer’s death is now closed. A report from the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office says the accidental death was caused by exposure to the cold weather and intoxication.
