“Star Wars” fans finally got a good look at Billy Dee Williams inside the Millennium Falcon after 36 years away with the release of the “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” teaser trailer Friday.

Attendees at Star Wars Celebration in Chicago got what they came for: a glimpse into director J.J. Abrams plans for the iconic franchise, which appears to include a creative pivot from “let the past die” themes of predecessor Rian Johnson’s “Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi.”

“How did I find Lando [Calrissian] again?” Mr. Williams addressed the crowd regarding his extended absence. “Lando never left me!”

Footage shows the character Chewbacca sharing screen time with Mr. Williams’ version of Calrissian for the first time since “Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi” in 1983.

Actor Donald Glover also portrayed the character in 2018’s “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” which failed to crack over $400 million in global sales on a production budget of $275 million.

“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” premieres Dec. 20.

Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, and John Boyega will all reprise their respective roles as Rey, Kylo Ren and Finn.
