COYLE, Wash. (AP) - Authorities have identified the fisherman whose body was found on a beach in northwestern Washington state last month.

Jefferson County Undersheriff Andy Pernsteiner tells the Peninsula Daily News that 71-year-old Leonard Skoog might have been tying his boat to a dock when he fell into the water.

Pernsteiner says the sheriff’s office was called to investigate after a boat was reported to be trespassing at a private dock.

He says the boat’s engine was running but no one was on board.

He says a couple walking on a beach near Pleasant Harbor found the body later that day.

Skoog lived on his boat in Fisherman’s Harbor.

Prosecutors say Skoog’s cause of death is still pending.
