CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (AP) - Authorities say a man pulled from his vehicle in a Chippewa Falls river has died.

First responders were called to the Chippewa River Sunday morning after someone spotted a vehicle in the water. Chippewa Falls Fire and Emergency brought a rescue boat to the scene and found a vehicle about 150 yards downstream from a boat landing. Officials say the high water level made the rescue more difficult.

Once they reached the car, a man was removed from the vehicle and taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
