Sen. Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign said Monday that she raised $12 million from nearly 220,000 donors during the first fundraising quarter of the year.
She reported that almost all of those donors gave small-dollar contributions, suggesting a strong base of support that she can return to in future months, asking them to pony up more cash.
“A nationwide network of hundreds of thousands of grassroots supporters has stepped up to lay the foundation for a winning campaign,” said Juan Rodriguez, the campaign manager.
The first fundraising quarter closed Sunday. Reports aren’t due to the Federal Election Commission until the middle of this month, but some campaigns have been eager to announce their take, hoping to impress activists and perhaps put fear into other candidates.
South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg announced earlier Monday that he raised more than $7 million in the quarter.
