NEW RIVER, Ariz. (AP) - Maricopa County Sheriff’s officials say a 79-year-old Anthem man who was reported missing last week has been found dead in New River.
They say body of Lonnie Townsend was found in the dry river bottom, west of the Interstate 17.
Sheriff’s officials say there doesn’t appear to be signs of foul play, but an investigation is ongoing.
Townsend was reported missing last Friday after he was seen leaving his daughter’s home for a walk.
Authorities conducted ground and air searches for Townsend in the days after he was reported missing, but they found no sign of him.
