ORTANNA, Pa. (AP) - State police say two people hospitalized after falling from a railroad bridge in central Pennsylvania.
Emergency dispatchers in Adams County say police and firefighters were sent shortly after 10:30 p.m. Friday to an area off Route 30 northwest of Gettysburg in Franklin Township.
The (Hanover) Evening Sun reports that a man and woman had been sitting on the bridge when the man lost his balance and fell, and the woman then fell as well.
A neighbor heard her screams and called 911. Both victims were found in a ravine estimated at about 25 feet down.
Firefighters using all-terrain vehicles rescued the man around midnight. He was flown to a hospital with severe head trauma. The woman was taken there by ambulance. Their conditions weren’t immediately available.
