GEORGETOWN, Del. (AP) - A former University of Delaware baseball player who was released on bond after being charged with rape has been taken into custody after being accused of sexual assaulting five other women.

Twenty-two-year-old Clay Conaway of Georgetown was released on $70,000 secured bond last month after being charged with first-degree rape in an alleged June assault of a 20-year-old woman in Georgetown.

Following a hearing Thursday, where he was arraigned on six counts of second-degree rape, Conaway received an additional $240,000 secured bond. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution.

State police announced this week that following Conaway’s initial arrest, five other women reported that he had assaulted them as well in incidents dating back to 2013.
