HAVERHILL, Mass. (AP) - Authorities in Massachusetts have identified the 17-year-old girl killed in a two-vehicle crash.

The Essex County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement Jordan Rankin, of Haverhill, was hospitalized Monday night and succumbed to her injuries Tuesday morning at a Boston hospital.

Police say the crash happened around 9 p.m. Monday in Haverhill. It’s unclear if any other people were injured in the crash.

Rankin was a student at Haverhill High School. Superintendent Margaret Marotta told the Eagle-Tribune the teen “was a very popular girl” who “played on various sports teams.”

Administrators say grief counseling will be available to students and staff.

No charges have been filed. An investigation continues.
