DUBBERLY, La. (AP) - Louisiana State Police say a 33-year-old man died when his pickup truck stopped on railroad tracks and was hit by a freight train.

Trooper Glenn Younger said in a news release that Jason Fory of Minden was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from his truck. He died at the scene about 2 a.m. Tuesday in Webster Parish near Dubberly.

Investigators don’t know why the pickup truck was stopped on the tracks. Police say the 16-car Kansas City Southern train was unable to stop before reaching the crossing.

The crash remains under investigation.
