OPINION:
There is no Republican “rush” to push the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation to its completion (“Sen. Tim Kaine: No reason to ’rush’ Supreme Court nominee through,” Web, Sept. 20).
Actually, the Senate must complete this he-said-she-said drama so that other congressional agenda items may move forward in an efficient and timely manner. Two examples that come to mind are finalizing currently unfinished appropriations bills and the Senate filling vacant federal-, appellate- and district-court judgeships.
But then again, Democrats, by introducing Christine Blasey Ford’s 11th-hour allegation of sexual impropriety by Judge Kavanaugh, are merely using another delay tactic from the playbook of those with the intent to derail Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the United States Supreme Court.
