BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A former Buffalo debt collector has been sentenced to three years in prison and must pay nearly $1.5 million in restitution after being convicted of tax evasion.

Prosecutors say that from 2010 to 2013, Dorian Wills ran a debt collection business that used threats and other illegal means to collect on debts that in some cases didn’t exist.

Authorities say the 52-year-old Wills made a lot of money but filed either false tax returns or no tax returns.

He was sentenced in federal court on Thursday.
