NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - A school bus driver in northern Delaware has been cited by police after trying to drive through standing flood waters, leaving the bus disabled.

Colonial School District officials say the driver tried to drive through flood waters on route 9 near Dobbinsville shortly after 7 a.m. Monday.

The bus was carrying 45 William Penn High School students at the time.

A tow truck was dispatched and pulled the bus to dry land so the students could walk to another bus, which took them to school.

There were no injuries.

New Castle City police ticketed the driver for ignoring a high-water warning and road closure signs.

Colonial officials say they will review the incident and take action as appropriate regarding the driver.
