Man dies after being struck by Green Line train in St. Paul

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A man has died after he was hit by a Green Line light rail train in St. Paul.

Authorities say the man and his friend were crossing the tracks when he was hit at about 4:30 p.m. He died at a hospital. The Star Tribune reports his friend made it across the tracks safely.

The crash caused significant delays during the rush hour commute.

Metro Transit spokesman Howie Padilla says officials are investigating.
