DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a 5-year-old South Florida girl was trapped under a sports utility vehicle that hit her as she walked to school.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Michael Kane tells the SunSentinel that the girl was trapped for four to five minutes Monday morning before bystanders pulled her out.
Medics treated the child at the scene and then she was airlifted to a hospital for treatment. Kane says she had cuts on her face, road rash and some second-degree burns but her injuries weren’t considered life-threatening.
The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
