NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - Authorities say a former city employee in New Haven, Connecticut made $13,000 worth of unauthorized transactions on a city credit card.
The New Haven Register reports that 41-year-old Bianca Bowles was arraigned Thursday on charges including larceny, illegal use of a credit card and identity theft.
Investigators say Bowles used the card for purchases on travel booking sites, hotel rooms and restaurant bills between May and August.
The city fired Bowles from her job as a Youth Services administrative assistant Aug. 22. She previously worked as a receptionist in the mayor’s office.
Bowles’ attorney says they are determined to make a “vigorous defense.”
He says she will plead not guilty when she returns to court Oct. 26.
