BOSTON (AP) - The widow of a Massachusetts teacher stabbed to death protecting a pregnant waitress from a knife-wielding mentally ill suspect is asking that her husband’s name be removed from a memorial to homicide victims.
Rosemary Heath says no one told her that the name of her husband, George Heath, would be added to Boston’s Garden of Peace .
George Heath died in May 2016 when he tried to stop a man with a knife at a Bertucci’s restaurant in a Taunton mall.
Rosemary Heath says her husband was not a victim, but a hero. She says a victim has no choice, but her 56-year-old husband had a choice and chose to fight back.
Officials with the Garden of Peace say George Heath’s name was added at the request of his daughter.
