HARRINGTON, Del. (AP) - A series of accidents on a highway in Delaware resulted in the death of a 21-year-old driver.
Citing a Delaware State Police release, news outlets report that a trailer carrying a lawn mower detached from a truck on U.S. 13 Tuesday, and crossed over the grassy median, hitting a car head-on. The 21-year-old driver was thrown from his car and hit an SUV in another lane.
Police say he wasn’t wearing a seat belt, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 70-year-old Florida woman driving the SUV was treated at a hospital and released. The 68-year-old man driving the truck was not injured.
The highway was closed for more than seven hours while police investigated.
No identities have been released.
