WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - The season’s first nor’easter dampened the number of outdoor events in Delaware this weekend.
The anticipation of high winds, rain and coastal flooding caused organizers of the annual Sea Witch Festival to cancel Saturday’s costume parade in Rehoboth Beach, citing safety concerns. Some other Sea Witch events were cancelled or rescheduled.
The News Journal of Wilmington also reports the Wags, Witches and Warlocks Halloween Festival for Saturday in Bethany Beach was canceled, as was the Wilmington Women’s Half Marathon.
Gov. John Carney’s Halloween Family Fun Fest at Woodburn also was canceled due to the weather.
A coastal flood advisory was in effect early Saturday along parts of the Delaware River. Afternoon wind gusts of over 35 mph were possible.
