BRANDON, Vt. (AP) - Residents in a Vermont town are petitioning the state to toss a company’s permit application for a new solar facility.
The Rutland Herald reports residents filed a motion to dismiss Conti Solar’s Babcock Solar Project in Brandon on Monday.
Developers are looking to build a 2.2-megawatt solar facility at the current site of a fire station. The motion says their application should be dismissed because the fire station wasn’t given a 45-day notice.
The residents’ attorney Cindy Ellen Hill says she can’t comment on the motion, but she has until Nov. 5 to file supplemental material.
Babcock attorneys have 30 days to respond to the motion.
Developers say they tried to look for other sites for the project due to public backlash, but they were unsuccessful.
