RENO, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Highway Patrol is seeking the public’s help in its investigation of a fatal crash on I-580 in Reno that claimed the life of a 27-year-old Sparks man Sunday night.
The patrol identified the victim of the crash on Tuesday as Derrick Thomas. He died at the scene.
A preliminary investigation indicates Thomas was driving south on I-580 between Mill and Plumb when he hit a flatbed truck carrying a traffic sign, and then another car, a Subaru Impreza.
The patrol says an improperly restrained child inside the Impreza suffered minor injuries. Several other cars ran into resulting debris on the highway but no one else was hurt.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Trooper Doug Hildebrand at 775-687-9617 or dhildebrand@dps.state.nv.us
