AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Home sales in Maine fell by a little more than 5 percent in September, while home prices rose by nearly as much.

The Maine Association of Realtors says the median sales price rose by a little less than 4 percent, to $215,000. The realtors’ association says year-to-date sales are up 2.5 percent from 2017.

Maine’s trends were in line with national trends. Nationwide, sales of existing single-family homes decreased 4 percent in the past year, and there was a 4.6 percent increase in the national median sales price to $260,500.

The highest real estate prices in Maine are in Cumberland County, where the median sales price climbed 5 percent to $310,000. The lowest prices are in Aroostook County, where the price climbed by about the same amount, to $85,000.
