BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont fire district has purchased two properties as part of a plan to add more parking and expand in the future.
Citing property transfer records, The Bennington Banner reports the Bennington Rural Fire District purchased a two-story home and a single-wide mobile home steps away from the firehouse.
Both properties had an assessed value of $102,400, and the Fire District paid $70,000.
Fire district Chief Joe Hayes says “everything will be torn down eventually.”
He says the district will start using the lawn where the mobile home is located on an as-needed basis.
He says the sale took about a year.
