AVON, Miss. (AP) - A district in the Mississippi Delta will have to come up with a new plan for where it teaches alternative-school students.

The Delta Democrat-Times reports that the Western Line School District is not complying with an accreditation standard that requires a stand-alone facility. Superintendent Lawrence Hudson says he recently learned of the shortfall.

Hudson says Western Line has buildings where alternative-school students are sent. But the state requires the district to either have a separate facility or an agreement to send alternative-school students to another school district nearby.

Western Line used to have such an agreement with the Greenville Public School District, but that ended in 2005.

Hudson says he doesn’t know how long Western Line has been out of compliance, but the problem needs to be fixed soon.
