LA CROSSE, Ind. (AP) - An approximately 8-mile stretch of a state highway in northwestern Indiana has reopened after being closed since February because of flood damage.
The (Northwest Indiana) Times reports Indiana 8 between U.S. 421 and Indiana 39 in LaPorte County is open to traffic.
The Indiana Department of Transportation closed the stretch to first determine the extent of damage from extensive flooding and then to make repairs.
Over the summer, the repairs for the flood damage were combined with a previously scheduled bridge project. INDOT says those jobs wrapped up Friday, and the road is now safe to use.
