CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - A school district official in West Virginia says a high school in Harrison County is being examined for mold issues.

The Exponent Telegram reports Harrison Schools Assistant Superintendent Jimmy Lopez says officials examined Liberty High School this week to develop a cleanup and mold prevention plan. Lopez says administrators at the school found mold in the library and on the ground floor.

He says the areas of mold weren’t large enough to be hazardous or warrant a shutdown. He says academic areas of the school run on new unit ventilators and have not been impacted. Lopez says the district has been dealing with mold issues “on and off” at some county schools such as South Harrison Middle School. He says high humidity and rain levels are the likely cause.
