MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Republican Gov. Phil Scott has announced a pilot grant program to help communities strengthen their economies through outdoor recreation.
The grants ranging from $10,000 to $100,000 will be awarded to one or more communities.
Activities eligible for funding include environmental stewardship, recreational programming and events, capital projects, and marketing and planning.
The communities will be asked to show how they expect to boost their local economy through outdoor recreation.
Scott says the pilot program allows the state to direct resources to one or more communities “that have a good foundation, but need a boost to help them maximize the value of their outdoor assets.”
Applications are due by Dec. 14
