GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - A crash involving two motorcycles and three other vehicles on Interstate 85 in South Carolina killed two people - the driver of one motorcycle and a passenger on another.

The Greenville News reports that the accident happened about 5:10 p.m. Saturday in Greenville County.

Cpl. Bill Rhyne with South Carolina Highway Patrol said a southbound automobile swerved to avoid traffic. It another automobile and the motorcycles. Drivers and passengers on each of the cycles were ejected. The operator of one, 47-year-old Bobby Alvin Center of Duncan, died after hitting a median wall. Fifty-two-year-old Catherine Lundstrom Hall of Spartanburg died after she was thrown from the other cycle into the northbound lanes and was struck by a fifth vehicle.



The crash shut down the highway Saturday evening. It remains under investigation.
