WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (AP) - A police department in Kentucky is investigating about 100 debit card fraud cases.

Williamsburg police said in a Facebook post Wednesday that about 100 victims reported fraudulent transactions on their debit cards in a 24 to 48 hour time period. Chief Wayne Bird tells WYMT-TV two of his officers and Mayor Roddy Harrison are a part of the nearly 100 people who were stolen from.

Police determined a point of sales skimmer device that can be easily placed over the existing point of sales machine was used. They believe the skimmer device is the work of a larger organization targeting businesses along major interstates.

Police have said they’re currently reviewing video footage to determine when the device was placed and the possible identity of anyone involved.
