DERBY, Kan. (AP) - Authorities say two people are dead after a driver smashed through railroad crossing arms and into the path of a train.

The Kansas City Star reports that the crash happened Sunday night just west Kansas 15 in Derby. Lt. Tim Myers, of the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, says the 38-year-old driver and her 39-year-old male passenger died in the crash. Their names weren’t immediately released.
