The school shooting reported in North Carolina was deemed a false alarm, the school district confirmed Friday morning.
There was a report of an active shooter situation at Topsail High School this morning after noises were heard coming from the top of the building. Law enforcement responded immediately and it has been determined there is no shooter and no weapon. 1/2

Capt. James Rowell of the Pender County Sheriff’s Office told WECT that they believe malfunctioning equipment at the school sounded like gunshots.
The Pender County school district lifted security precautions for several schools in the surrounding area, but Topsail elementary, middle and high schools remain on lockdown.
Buses headed for the Topsail school system were redirected to a local grocery store.
Parents who wish to pick up their bus riding student will be able to do so at Lowe’s Foods. All staff at Topsail Elementary, Topsail Middle, and Topsail High please report to Lowe’s Foods.
