PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Fire officials in Rhode Island are investigating a blaze that damaged a home and injured a firefighter.
Authorities say firefighters responded to the three-story Providence home Sunday morning. Six adults living in the home got out of the home before crews arrived. Firefighters rescued a dog from the first floor of the home.
The fire was contained in about an hour.
Acting Deputy Assistant Chief Kevin Jutras says a rookie firefighter sustained second- and third-degree burns to his ears. The firefighter was treated at an area hospital and released.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
