MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife is reminding people to take precautions when in the woods during the ongoing hunting seasons this fall.
While the October bow hunting season has ended, the largest numbers of hunters are expected to participate in the upcoming 16-day rifle deer-hunting season.
Nicole Meier, education specialist with the department’s Hunter Education Program, says people traveling through the woods should wear bright colors, plan outings during the daytime and stick to high-use hiking trails.
She also recommends people to get bright orange vests for their dogs.
The deer hunting season with rifles takes place Nov. 10-25.
