SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Defeated Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Jenny Wilson is setting her sights on becoming the next mayor of Salt Lake County.
Wilson on Friday declared her candidacy for the mayoral post being vacated by U.S. Rep.-elect Ben McAdams.
Wilson is a member of the Salt Lake County Council who lost her Senate bid to former presidential candidate Mitt Romney in the midterm election.
Once McAdams resigns as mayor to depart for Congress, the central committee of the Salt Lake County Democratic Party will nominate a replacement. Wilson also said she would run for election in 2020 for a full term as county mayor.
