PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Work to rebuild the interchange between Routes 6 and 10 in Providence is expected to cause traffic delays for the next two years.
Peter Alviti, director of the Department of Transportation says the $410 million project, which begins Nov. 9, will include repairing seven structurally deficient bridges and creating easier access from Route 10 north to Route 6 west.
In the meantime, the DOT says commuters can expect their commute time to increase by 5 minutes or longer through the interchange and the Olneyville area.
The DOT suggests drivers consider alternate routes, or taking public transportation.
