MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - A former official at the Vermont Department of Public Service, which represents utility customers, says the department failed to advocate aggressively for ratepayers in a Green Mountain Power rate case.
Vermont Public Radio reports that Brian Winn, the department’s former director of finance and economics, filed a document Tuesday with the state Public Utility Commission, which regulates utilities.
It was in response to the PUC’s request for comment on an anonymous letter it received that accused the department of having too cozy a relationship with GMP.
The department says Winn’s comment should be viewed as a private statement from a former employee “who did not always prevail” during internal debate on the department’s policy determinations and litigation strategy. GMP says a number of Winn’s statements “are factually incorrect.”
