NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Vanderbilt freshman guard Darius Garland is out indefinitely after hurting the meniscus in his knee in a loss to Kent State.

The Commodores updated Garland’s status Saturday, hours after he was hurt.

Garland was hurt 2 minutes into the Commodores’ 77-75 loss to Kent State on Friday. He returned and watched from the bench.

A five-star recruit, Garland is averaging 16.2 points a game. The Nashville native scored 33 points in a win against Liberty earlier this week, a Southeastern Conference high so far. He already is being projected as a first-round pick in the NBA draft next summer.
