DURHAM, N.H. (AP) - The largest fundraising campaign ever undertaken by the University of New Hampshire has brought in more than $308 million for student scholarships and advancements in teaching and research.

“Celebrate 150: The Campaign for UNH” officially launched in 2016 to coincide with the university’s 150th anniversary, though it began quietly in 2011. The original goal was $275 million.

The university says the money came from nearly 45,000 donors. More than a third of the funds went to support student scholarships, including the Granite Guarantee program for New Hampshire students. The campaign led to the two largest gifts in UNH history: $25 million from entrepreneur Peter Paul and $20 million from television producer Marcy Carsey.
