LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas hopes the state will give the city the go-ahead to raise money for services for homeless people.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that city officials plan to ask the Nevada Legislature to increase a real estate transfer tax and sewer fees to provide an additional $20 million.
The City Council contends that current funding is inadequate to address homelessness in the metro area by building more housing and providing other assistance.
