CARLIN, Nev. (AP) - Authorities say bones found during a construction project in Carlin in northeastern Nevada are human and likely were buried three to five years ago.
The Elko Daily Free Press reports that workers leveling a property near Union Pacific railroad backs found some of the bones Nov. 13 and that the nearly 2-acre (0.8-hectare) property was searched then and again Wednesday.
Considerable earth moving had been done by when the bones were first noticed, so officials are still trying to determine exactly where they were buried.
Deputy Coroner Nick Czegledi said the site is a possible crime scene involving an unreported death. Czegledi said the bones were in good shape except for damage caused during excavation.
Carlin has a population of 2,300 and is 213 miles (343 kilometers) northeast of Reno.
