WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Low-digit surf tags are up for auction in Delaware.
The News Journal reports that the auction, which includes 2-, 3-and 4-digit numbers, opens Friday and ends Dec. 5. The lowest number is 27.
Surf fishing plates, or “surf tags,” when paired with a sticker or decal, allow four-wheel-drive vehicles onto the beach in designated areas of Delaware’s state parks. The low-digit surf plate is purely optional and standard numberless blue-and-white surf fishing plates will still be available.
The online auction is being conducted by Auction List Services of New Jersey.
The minimum starting bid is $250. All funds will go to Delaware State Parks to help defray park operation costs.
