OPINION:
President Trump is right to resolve the recent crisis with Saudi Arabia by using common sense regarding the murder of a part-time, pro-Shiite, liberal newspaper columnist who was also a Muslim Brotherhood activist. The president retained the important and needlessly imperiled alliance with Saudi Arabia during our war in the Middle East against Iran, Russia and Syria. He is protecting America and our workers in a tempest-in-the-teapot, blame-America-first, self-made crisis.
The hysterical media, self-righteous Democrats and anti-Trump, misguided Republicans ignore national security in demanding that America turn against Saudi Arabia. They demand in a frenzy that we condemn the crown prince of Saudi Arabia and that America break the important cooperation and multi-billon-dollar defense and commerce deals we have with the Saudis. While U.S. servicemen are fighting against the Taliban and radical Islamic terrorists, it is prudent for America to support the Sunni Arab nations which are our allies and the allies of Israel.
President Trump has avoided the great errors made by former President Jimmy Carter, who mistakenly condemned the shah of Iran over human-rights allegations, broke off relations and started our endless war with the Iranian Islamic theocracy he helped usher in.
