LOS ANGELES (AP) - An early morning fire has displaced residents of a two-story apartment building in Los Angeles.

Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey says the fire before dawn Wednesday caused significant damage to the 1906-era, six-unit apartment building in the Pico-Union neighborhood west of downtown.

Dozens of firefighters battled the fire for nearly an hour before flames were knocked down.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
