RENO, Nev. (AP) - The realty company for the Burning Man organization has withdrawn its application to relocate 10 historic homes in the Gateway District of the University of Nevada, Reno.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports Common Ground Urban Development had proposed moving the houses to a plot north of Gerlach and converting them for an arts education and learning center.
Common Ground officials say they would need more time to prepare the land, secure financing and move the houses.
The university solicited proposals in April to relocate the homes built in the turn of the century. It intends to construct life sciences and business college buildings and a parking garage.
Officials say demolishing the homes would be the next step.
Burning Man is the annual counterculture festival that occurs in the northern Nevada desert.
