LOS ANGELES (AP) - Authorities say a Los Angeles County sheriff’s detective has been arrested on suspicion of raping a 14-year-old girl in a case he was investigating.
The Los Angeles Times reports that Neil Kimball was taken into custody Friday after a months-long investigation.
It’s unclear if he has an attorney.
The alleged attack occurred in November 2017 in Ventura County. Officials say the 45-year-old detective is with the special victims unit and met the girl while working on a case.
He could face charges including rape and preventing or dissuading a victim from testifying.
The newspaper says Kimball has investigated dozens of molestation cases.
Kimball was previously investigated in 2009 after a woman claimed he grabbed her and tried to make her touch his genitals. No charges were filed in that case.
